A Magical Send-off for 7000th Wish Child Alisha

Early on the morning of September 26, four-year-old wish child Alisha Savage left for her wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort, marking a major milestone – the 7,000th wish granted by Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island!
Alisha’s milestone wish was sponsored by American Airlines and the Something mAAgic Foundation’s mAAgicSM flight, which partnered with us to create a Disney-themed celebratory send-off party for Alisha at Logan International Airport. The family’s limousine, escorted by a Quincy Police motorcade, was met at the airport terminal by over 100 cheering fans and a costumed cast of greeters. Alisha’s departure gate was transformed into a majestic castle and a personalized welcome announcement in the terminal ended in applause from employees and passengers. Alisha enjoyed a royally decorated first-class seat on the aircraft, as well as a stunning water salute as her plane departed, courtesy of Massport Fire Department.
Alisha, originally from Cork, Ireland, has stage IV atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumors, a rare childhood cancer of the central nervous system.
“As we watched Alisha the past few days and seen the sparkle in Alisha's eyes [we] got a flash of the past year and a half and were so proud of where we are today…” wrote Alisha’s mom, Michelle, on Facebook. “So grateful and happy. Haven’t felt these emotions since Alisha's diagnosis.”
As we celebrate our 7,000th wish, we reflect on the past 27 years and the thousands of wish children in Massachusetts and Rhode Island who have inspired us with their courage. We simply could not have reached this milestone without our community of generous supporters - thank you to one and all!
We are humbled knowing that we have helped to bring hope, strength, and joy to these children, their families, and all who have been touched by our mission. We look forward to the meaningful work ahead as we continue to grant the heartfelt wishes of seriously ill children in our community.
