Cheers to Wishes: A Look Back at Wine and Wishes 2018

Over 300 guests raised their glasses in support of wishes at Wine and Wishes on October 12, 2018, at City Winery Boston! The event raised over $155,000, surpassing our goal at this sixth annual tasting event. We are very grateful to our sponsors, tasting partners, event committee members, attendees, special guests, in-kind supporters, and volunteers, whose outpouring of support will grant the wishes of 15 seriously ill children in the coming months.

The event, which featured fine wine, whiskey, craft beer, and cider tastings, was co-emceed by news anchor Vanessa Welch of Boston 25 News and NESN sportscaster Tom Carron. We were also grateful to have Boston Bruins player Noel Acciari in attendance.

During the evening, it was an honor to highlight the stories of two wish recipients. Ten-year-old wish recipient Olivia and her family shared the story of her wish to go to Hawaii, and Olivia and her sister presented Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island CEO Charlotte Beattie with proceeds they raised through a lemonade stand and requests for donations instead of gifts for their birthdays. Vanessa Welch interviewed wish recipient Kanah about his wish to be a sports photographer, which was granted through a memorable day with Brian Babineau, team photographer for the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. Brian joined Kanah onstage as a special guest to express how the wish experience impacted him. Wrapping up the spirited evening, Tom Carron led a live auction and Fund-A-Wish, raising additional funds among the philanthropic crowd.

Wine and Wishes 2018 was supported by generous sponsors including Presenting Sponsor Trusted Choice and the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) Young Agents Committee; Wish Star Sponsor the Boston Bruins Foundation; and Wish Friend Sponsors Ecker Construction, Weil, and Zipcar

Cheers and thank you to everyone who came together to enrich the lives of seriously ill children through Wine and Wishes 2018!
