Swish Night

Important Swish Night Update

Swish Night 2015

At Make-A-Wish, the health and safety of our community, including our wish families, corporate partners and donors, volunteers and employees, is our priority.

We continue to monitor guidance from national and international public health and government organizations and are working closely with the national Make-A-Wish Medical Advisory Council, keeping the best interest of the children and families and the communities we serve at the center of all policy decisions we make. We are committed to reviewing policy routinely to ensure we are operating in a safe and timely fashion.

As important members of the Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island community, we wanted to make you aware of the difficult decision made to postpone all events that involve large gatherings at this time through April 30. This measure includes postponement of:
  • The 2020 Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island Gala scheduled for Saturday, April 4 at the InterContinental Boston
  • Swish Night scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at Longmeadow Country Club
We will share details and updates regarding plans going forward as information becomes available. As always, we are very grateful to you for your support of our mission and our events.  We thank you for your understanding at this time and look forward to being in touch when we are clearer about updates on our event schedule.

In the meantime, if you have any questions regarding The 2020 Make-A-Wish Gala, please contact Jo-Anne Spillane at or by cell phone at 617.645.9117.

If you have any questions on Swish Night, please contact Peg Wheble at or by cell phone at 413.265.1754.

Again, thank you for your partnership and support,

With over 230 guests in attendance, Swish Night 2019 raised $175,000 for wishes! The unique event provided an opportunity to support wishes while watching championship college basketball through a festive evening at the newly-renovated Longmeadow Country Club in Longmeadow, MA.

Guests enjoyed meeting wish recipients Ella, 11, who wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort; Liam,17, who wished for a puppy; Jonathan, 17, who also wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort; and Lila, 11, who wished to go on a Disney cruise. Lila’s mother, Melissa, shared that her daughter’s wish trip was a therapeutic “treatment of the spirit for the entire family.” And Lila expressed thanks for her wish: “I’m happy to be here tonight to help raise money so other kids like me can have their wish granted, have some fun, and forget about being sick even for a little while.”

We are sincerely grateful to our Swish Night Committee members, led by former Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island board members Jim Foard, Jr. and Philip T. Glynn, MD, for their dedication to the success of this event and to our wish children and their families. Thanks also to our sponsors, attendees, and volunteers for the outpouring of support for our mission. Seventeen hope-filled wishes will be fulfilled through the event’s proceeds, enabling us to provide that same therapeutic “treatment of the spirit” for more children like Lila through the granting of their wishes.
