With over 230 guests in attendance, Swish Night 2019 raised $175,000 for wishes! The unique event provided an opportunity to support wishes while watching championship college basketball through a festive evening at the newly-renovated Longmeadow Country Club in Longmeadow, MA.
Guests enjoyed meeting wish recipients Ella, 11, who wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort; Liam,17, who wished for a puppy; Jonathan, 17, who also wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort; and Lila, 11, who wished to go on a Disney cruise. Lila’s mother, Melissa, shared that her daughter’s wish trip was a therapeutic “treatment of the spirit for the entire family.” And Lila expressed thanks for her wish: “I’m happy to be here tonight to help raise money so other kids like me can have their wish granted, have some fun, and forget about being sick even for a little while.”
We are sincerely grateful to our Swish Night Committee members, led by former Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island board members Jim Foard, Jr. and Philip T. Glynn, MD, for their dedication to the success of this event and to our wish children and their families. Thanks also to our sponsors, attendees, and volunteers for the outpouring of support for our mission. Seventeen hope-filled wishes will be fulfilled through the event’s proceeds, enabling us to provide that same therapeutic “treatment of the spirit” for more children like Lila through the granting of their wishes.
