A sold-out field of golfers took to the course at Salem Country Club on July 8, 2019, for the 27th Annual Make-A-Wish®
Massachusetts and Rhode Island Golf Tournament. The tournament was enhanced by beautiful weather as well as record-setting generosity in support of children facing life-threatening medical conditions.
Wish recipients and siblings Ana and Anthony helped to greet golfers and kick off the tournament. Ana’s wish to meet her grandmother from Brazil was granted last year and Anthony’s wish to go to Walt Disney World®
Resort was fulfilled this past winter. During the evening program, wish parent Jenn Calcagni-ONeill spoke about her family’s Make-A-Wish experiences by sharing the stories of her son Nicholas’ wish to meet the Minions and her daughter Makenzie’s wish to meet a sloth. Nicholas entertained the audience with his Minions dance and assisted with our raffle drawing. CEO Charlotte Beattie reflected on the importance of community support, particularly during the busy summer season of wish granting, and John Terrio from Auction Knights facilitated a live auction and Fund-A-Wish.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters — including Presenting Sponsor John Hayes of BHC Advisors, Eagle Sponsor the Boston Bruins Foundation, and all of our tournament sponsors — along with our Golf Tournament Committee members and event volunteers, $345,000 was raised, the most ever through this annual tournament. Proceeds will provide hope, joy, and strength to 30 wish children through the granting of their wishes.
