A wish meant "yes" to everything Dalton missed out on.

Dalton wished to simply be kid again.
Dalton watches sea turtlesWish mom Laura reflects on the transformational power of her son’s wish:

My son Dalton was diagnosed with leukemia at the tender age of three. Dalton’s lengthy treatment brought with it many complications and frequent infections, so he spent most of his time isolated. He missed out on the wonders of being a little kid.

We don't know for sure why Dalton fell in love with sea turtles but we do know the symbolism of them: strength, resilience, and perseverance – all of which describe our son.

For his wish, our family visited a marine life habitat so that Dalton could observe and feed the sea turtles he adores. I will always treasure the moment when I heard shrieking and belly laughs from all three of our children and my husband, immersed in the wonder of the experience. It was then that I truly felt, "This is IT! This is what a wish is all about."

For every wish child like Dalton, there is another child facing a life-threatening illness in our community.

Your support enables Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island to restore hope, a sense of possibility and carefree wonder, and the courage to persevere.

Please join us in this important work by making a contribution today.

Sponsor a Child's Wish

As the organization works to fulfill more children's wishes than ever before, we have a significant need for more Wish Sponsors and Wish Partners.

The average monetary cost to create a child's wish experience is $10,000.  This funds everything including the wish itself and enhancements (such as the limo ride to the airport, a send-off party, goodie bags, and souvenirs).

Wish Sponsor: $10,000 or more

  • Be the sole sponsor of a child's wish
  • Learn about your sponsored child - receive a detailed story about your child's interests and wish (story can be displayed in your home or business)
  • Receive distinguished recognition in our newsletter
Wish Partner: $5,000 to $9,999

Workplace Giving

Support wishes... right from your office!

You can contribute to Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island through payroll deductions or a one-time gift through your workplace campaign. As a member of America's Charities and Community Health Charities of New England, we are represented in several public and private sector campaigns. Look for the Make-A-Wish code under the America's Charities member listings on your campaign pledge form.

If your workplace offers United Way giving
To direct your United Way pledge to support our children's wishes, look for a "donor option" designation line on your campaign pledge form and write in "Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island."

Donate through Community Health Charities of New England
The Foundation is a proud partner of Community Health Charities of New England. If your employer participates in the CHC payroll deduction program, please select Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island as one of your charities of choice.

If you are a Federal, State, or City employee
Use the correct code to select Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island as your charity of choice:

#45279: CFC (Combined Federal Campaign)

#700599: COMECC (Commonwealth of Massachusetts Employee Charitable Campaign)

#4026: COBECC (City of Boston Employees Charitable Campaign)

#6251: SECA (Rhode Island State Employees Charitable Appeal)

If your company does not offer workplace giving
You can organize your own campaign! Employees can work together to pool or raise funds. Contact our office for more information about how to get started.

Ask about matching gifts
Even if your company does not offer a formal workplace campaign, many companies do match employee contributions to charity. Ask your human resources department about matching gifts, and you may be able to double (or even triple) the impact of your generosity!
