Pvt. Mark Bouchard of Cranston Fire Department Station 3, Engine 3, second platoon, has had his mustache since he was 17. But, Lt. Todd McGill, a fellow firefighter, was determined to give his friend a makeover. He bet Mark that if he raised $2,500 for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Mark would have to shave his beloved mustache off.
In April, Todd began collecting from all six fire stations in Cranston and surpassed his goal, raising a total of $3,384 to help grant wishes for seriously ill children in Rhode Island. On July 28, 2015, Gents Barbershop hosted the mustache shaving event so community members, including Mark’s family, could join in the fun. Soon, a clean-shaven Mark, whose children have never seen him without a mustache, was posing for photos -- happy to share a fresh-faced smile while helping to put joy-filled smiles on the faces of our wish children!
