It was one big group hug when Mayor Martin J. Walsh took to the stage with two beneficiaries of Make-A-Wish during the organization’s annual gala on April 12, 2014. More than 500 guests attended the fundraiser to support wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Make-A-Wish golf fundraiser makes dreams come

The Reminder

Golfers once again assembled on the green of the Springfield Country Club in support of children facing life-threatening illness. The 2014 Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island Golf Classic took place on June 9. This year featured 144 golfers and marks the tenth anniversary of the fundraising event.

Wishes do come true: 'Princess Emma' gets Bertucci's send-off

NORTH ANDOVER — Though 9-year-old Emma Duong will have to wait until next week to dine with the Disney princesses in Florida, she got a sneak preview of what it might be like last night. Bertucci’s staff members who were not scheduled to work even came in for the dinner shift, many of them dressed in gowns and tiaras. All wanted to be a part of making her wish come true.

The bus left early – 7 a.m. Sunday morning – but that didn’t stop the State Street School team from Westerly from participating in the third annul Walk for Wishes event at the Warwick Mall. In all, 35 teams and an estimated 300 people spent Sunday morning walking the mall, plus watching group performances for the benefit of Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The flashy Finn led all goalies with seven shutouts and ranked first in save percentage. But it’s something he did off the ice that earned our admiration. This week, Rask made 9-year-old Maddie Santosuosso feel pretty special when he got the little girl a goalie mask identical to the one he wears.
