A dollar here, a dollar there. That's all it takes to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
Through the generosity of their customers buying "Wish Stars" for one dollar each, Big Y World Class Markets throughout New England helped raise $150,000 for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island and Make-A-Wish Connecticut ($75,000 each).

The Make a Wish foundation’s largest annual fundraiser took place Saturday evening. The fourth annual “Evening of Wishes” event raises funds to help current and future wishes comes true for children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. Eyewitness News meteorologist Michelle Muscatello emceed the event held at the Omni Hotel in Providence.

Elise Strom joined Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island in mid-September as the regional director in Rhode Island. With the regional office based in East Providence, Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island grants wishes for children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 with life-threatening medical conditions. In its 28-year history, the organization has granted more than 7,000 wishes for children in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Brendan's dream was to meet Tom Brady, and on Nov. 7, Brendan got his wish fulfilled by Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, an organization that makes dreams come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Gabriel Aljalian was diagnosed with cancer on Nov. 3, 2012, at the age of 3, and now the 6-year-old is cancer free and he has turned the anniversary of his diagnosis into an annual event focused on spreading positivity. This year, the he was shown some kindness by Tom Brady, who hung out with Aljalian and threw the football around as part of a meeting organized by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
