It’s a crisp fall day at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. Today, though, the focus isn’t on the talent of famous football players. On this day, it’s all about the quiet strength of 11 children who are bravely confronting life-threatening medical conditions.
Through the generosity of the New England Patriots and the Kraft family, Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island welcomes these 11 children and their families, from across the country and even from Portugal, for an experience that surpasses any game-winning touchdown.
The children visit with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who presents them with gifts and confides in them that every time they’ve had Make-A-Wish visitors, the Patriots have won their next game!
As the children head onto the team’s practice field, there to greet them are Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and Jimmy Garoppolo! Coach Bill Belichick and other players join them and soon, Brady is throwing passes to the children while Gronk tries to intercept.
In an especially memorable moment, Brady promises 10 push-ups from the team if his pass is caught. Sure enough, the players and Coach Belichick soon hit the ground to give 10!
“I’m so overwhelmed…I’m just taking it all in!” says one wish recipient, summing up the awe on all of the children’s faces. To top it off, the Patriots win their game that following day, with 11 very special fans in the stands, cheering for them with renewed confidence and grateful hearts.
Thank you to the New England Patriots and the Kraft family for inspiring wish children through the gifts of time, compassion, and generosity.
