From a very young age, Steven, 12, has faced the daily challenges of living with a rare blood disorder, Diamond-Blackfan anemia.
He often feels isolated and fatigued from blood transfusions and treatments. Steven’s parents struggled with ways to engage him in activities that would bring a smile back to their son’s face.
For Steven, his wish for a new puppy, “Jazz,” provides the emotional support and companionship to reinvigorate his spirit.
For his parents, originally from Uruguay and assisted by a bi-lingual Make-A-Wish volunteer, a great weight is lifted as they watch Jazz bring their son daily joy!
“No tenemos palabras para agradeserte todo lo que hicieron por Steven…Para nosotros verlo tan contento es lo mas grande,” said Steven’s dad, Pablo. [“We have no words to thank you for everything you have done for Steven…For us, seeing him so happy is the greatest.”]

As part of Steven’s wish, Banfield Pet Hospital in Leominster, MA donated the preliminary veterinary examination, as well as one year of free veterinary care.
