When Connor was seven, he was diagnosed with Wilms tumor, which had originated in his kidneys and spread to his abdomen and lungs…Amidst his long road of treatments, the process of brainstorming a wish was creative and fun for Connor. He could use his imagination to carry him away from what he was dealing with day-to-day – surgery, radiation, chemotherapy. It offered him an opportunity to dream and shape that dream into reality which provided him a sense of control, something that battling cancer took away from him.
Thanks to Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island and their generous network, Connor’s wish for a treehouse was made a reality – and it’s not your average treehouse! What Connor loves most about it is the fun of sharing it with his brother and friends. Of course, the zipline, fireman’s pole and slingshot aren’t so bad either. I can tell you that this “wish” represents a special retreat full of fun times with our boys as they continue to grow. And there are no words to express the gratitude and joy we feel being given that gift.
Thank you, Make-A-Wish supporters, for what you have done for our family and for continuing to make wishes come true for kids like Connor!
