Olivia, 5, longs to leave doctor’s visits and treatment behind and escape into a world where princesses abound and children are encouraged to play and dream. Diagnosed with HLH, a life-threatening blood disease, it’s been a long road for Olivia and her family as they faced the fear and uncertainties of her illness. Olivia’s wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort provides newfound hope and happiness for the entire family as they look toward a fresh start.
“[Olivia’s doctor] highly recommended that we do this as therapy for what we went through,” said Olivia’s parents, Tony and Poyu. “Her doctor said that it would help us, as a family, heal together. We wholeheartedly agree.”
As Olivia enters Walt Disney World® Resort she looks up in utter amazement at the enchanted castle towering overhead. She grins, her eyes glimmering with an excitement her parents haven’t seen in quite some time.
“We were amazed at the level of detail and care that went into this wish, allowing us to focus on enjoying the trip,” adds Tony. “This entire experience made us feel like ‘we made it’ after such a long recovery journey.”
Arriving at the Bibidi Bobidi Boutique, this once timid young girl springs to life. Olivia jumps into the chair for a makeover fit for a princess – including hair, nails, makeup, and sparkling gown!
“The whole trip was so magical and we feel it deep in our hearts. It taught us to be more thoughtful toward everyone around us and to be as helpful as we can,” says Tony. “The joy and happiness it gave us all is immeasurable.”
