Chris is an energetic, soccer-loving six-year-old who can’t get enough of SpongeBob SquarePants cartoons and Batman. When Chris learned that his wish to go to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas would be granted, suddenly his treatments for Langerhans cell histiocytosis, a life-threatening medical condition, were more bearable.
Picturing wide beaches, dolphins, and waterpark fun, he focused on his upcoming adventure to stay strong. “Make-A-Wish had much to do with Chris’ positive outlook while battling his disease, as he really looked forward to the trip,” says his father, Terence.
With his older sister Olivia by his side, Chris took Atlantis by storm! Each morning he awoke to an incredible water view and stepped out on the balcony to survey his tropical kingdom. Then he set out exploring. Chris was in his element all week long, whether hitting the beach or swimming with dolphins. One of his favorite activities was gliding down a waterslide into a clear tunnel submerged in a shark-filled lagoon.
“Atlantis was amazing, beyond our wildest expectations,” says Terence. Chris and his family continue to recount their stories from the trip and are grateful for “the sheer joy and happiness” that they savored together through Chris’ wish.
