It was a slam dunk for wishes at Swish Night 2015, an evening of championship college basketball, to benefit Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island. More than 200 guests gathered at Longmeadow Country Club in Longmeadow, MA, on April 4 to catch the action on big screen TVs while celebrating the life-changing impact of a wish.
Wish recipient Karissa, 17, shared her wish to be a model in New York City, which was granted last year, and brought the experience to life for guests through video. Karissa’s mother, Kimberly, was the evening’s featured speaker and shared the story of her daughter’s journey with Hodgkin’s disease and the profound joy Karissa’s wish provided. Guests also enjoyed meeting wish children Jonathan, 13, and Ella, 6, who wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort.
We extend our utmost gratitude to the Swish Night Committee, led by Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island Board member Philip T. Glynn, M.D., for their dedication to the success of this event. Thanks also to our Swish Night sponsors, attendees, and volunteers for the outpouring of support for our mission. Sixteen magical wishes will be funded through the event’s proceeds, which totaled nearly $125,000!
