Belmont High School Hosts “Mr. Belmont” Pageant

The Community Service Class at Belmont High School in Belmont, MA, hosted a junior vs. senior pageant to name the 2013 "Mr. Belmont." The entire school participated in the nomination process and selected 12 finalists to compete in choreographed dance, a talent portion, multiple wardrobe changes, and interviews. Senior Will Staub was crowned the winner, and through the fundraiser, Belmont High students donated over $1,600.00 to Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island!

Tunes for Tots

Recently, 27 aspiring young musicians gathered at the Norwood Theater in Norwood, MA, to perform a charity concert to benefit Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The artists belong to a program called Tunes for Tots that attracts the best young talent in the music industry, ages 7-19. The Tunes for Tots program was founded to bring communities together in support of the Make-A-Wish mission through musical performances. Thanks to the involvement and generosity of participating performers and their families, as well as Patricia Duffey, Regional Coordinator for Tunes for Tots New England and Director of Music On and Up, the Tunes for Tots Charity Concert in Norwood generated over $1,500 for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island to help fulfill wishes for children in our community.

13th Annual Swing for Wishes

In May, golfers gathered at Hopkinton County Club in Hopkinton, MA, for the 13th Annual Swing for Wishes Golf Tournament. After a day on the links, including a putting contest supervised by wish child Nicole, 10, attendees heard from Adelita and Eric, parents of three-year-old Ryan, about the impact Ryan’s wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort had on them as a family. Proceeds from the 2013 tournament will help grant eight magical wishes for children this summer! The committee, led by David Degon and Michael Stowe of Stowe & Degon, LLC in Westborough, MA, are to be congratulated for yet another successful year and for an enduring legacy of generous support of Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Groton-Dunstable Regional High School, Groton, MA

The Groton-Dunstable Regional High School girls and boys lacrosse programs put their skills to the test in the spirit of wish granting by holding a spring lacrosse clinic to benefit Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The clinic generated over $1,000 in donations to make wishes come true for seriously ill children in our community. We thank the students and families whose generosity and participation made this possible!
