On April 16, 2018, Team Make-A-Wish will be among the thousands of runners conquering a 26.2 mile route into Boston in the 122nd running of the Boston Marathon! Our four runners are hard at work training and fundraising, and each runner has a goal of granting a wish through the marathon by raising $10,000 or more. You can help! Meet our runners below and donate to celebrate their incredible commitment to our mission.
Your contribution will help Zach, Lori, Kristen, and Gracie on their journey to the finish line and will move us toward our goal of granting the wish of every medically eligible child in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

“I am inspired by their mission of giving hope and joy to kids. As someone who wants to be a pediatrician, this mission defines why I want to be a doctor.”
Zach Altman is a high school senior in Frisco, TX. He has done a lot of volunteering for Make-A-Wish Foundation North Texas, such as fundraising and helping with reveals for wishes. He is so excited to run his first marathon and follow in the footsteps of his father, who ran the Boston Marathon seven times!
When Zach finishes the Boston Marathon, his post-race meal will be at Regina’s Pizza inside the iconic Quincy Market, and then maybe some ice cream.

Lori Connolly – Baltimore, MD
Donate to Lori's run
“This organization is all about wishes and the dollars I am raising will go towards making a dream come true for a child.”
Lori Connolly is Marketing Director for an automotive group in Baltimore. Make-A-Wish Foundation is near and dear to Lori’s heart—her nephew was diagnosed with cancer at the age of seven and had his wish granted. Lori started running to help cope with the diagnosis, and is excited to celebrate his good health in the Boston Marathon.
Lori hopes to raise $11,000 through her run! Her favorite song for training is “Crazy Train” by Ozzie Osbourne, and because she lives down in Baltimore, her post-race meal plan is as New England as it gets: lobster, fried clams, and some clam chowder! Help Lori meet her goal here
Kristen St. Martin-Lipton – Wayne, PA
Donate to Kristen's run
“My goal in running is to help parents bring smiles to their children’s faces by enabling their wishes to come true, because there truly is no better feeling in the world than seeing your child smile.”
Kristen St. Martin-Lipton is a web analyst who is actively involved in various charitable activities. With the support of her family members, she has also founded an organization to support preventative cardiac research. Kristen became familiar with Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island through her mother, who is a volunteer with our organization.
This is Kristen’s fourth marathon, and she says she can’t run without knowing her family is waiting for her at the finish line, and has started a tradition to eat cupcakes after every marathon she runs! Click here to donate, and maybe even suggest a place where she can get a well-deserved cupcake after her race
Gracie Van Huffel – Boston, MA
Donate to Gracie's run
“I’m running for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island to fulfill the wish of a deserving child, to ensure they still get to feel like a kid.”
Gracie is currently a law student, and has been lucky enough to call Boston her home for the past three years. While living here, she has developed a great relationship with Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, working to raise funds and awareness for our mission, and is thrilled to run her very first marathon in our name this year!
After crossing the finish line, Gracie plans on eating her body weight in french fries, a veggie burger, and a glass of champagne! Help Gracie reach her goal of $10,000 here
