Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island Grants Timothy’s Wish Thanks to $1.25 Million Donation Nationally from Bristol-Myers Squibb

Timothy who has Hodgkin’s lymphoma will have wish granted
to go to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas with his family

Boston, Mass. (Aug. 1, 2017) – Make-A-Wish® America has received a $1.25 million charitable donation from Bristol-Myers Squibb Company to grant more life-changing wishes for children with cancer. The seven-figure contribution will benefit Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island and the other 61 Make-A-Wish chapters nationwide. Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island has allocated a portion of the funds to granting Timothy’s most heartfelt wish. Timothy will experience the life-changing power of a wish when he gets his wish to go to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.

“We rely on the generosity of donors and corporate sponsors to be able to continue granting more and better wishes for kids like Timothy," said Charlotte Beattie, Chief Executive Officer of Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. "Thanks to Bristol-Myers Squibb, Timothy’s wish will be granted, bringing us one step closer to our vision to someday grant the wish of every eligible child.”

“We are inspired by the work Make-A-Wish does to enlighten the lives of children diagnosed with critical illnesses, like cancer, and their families,” said Teresa Bitetti, senior vice president, Head, US Oncology, Bristol-Myers Squibb. “We understand the important role emotional health plays in one’s cancer fight, and so we are proud to support programs that can provide hope, inspiration and happiness.”

The million dollar donation coincides with ground-breaking, third-party research that shows the wish experience can not only influence a child’s emotional health, but can also play a role in their physical health, working in concert with traditional medicine to help kids get better.
