Rob Gronkowski Surprises Young Fan At Melrose Home

A young boy undergoing chemotherapy for a genetic disorder received a big surprise when Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski arrived for the dedication of a football field that was painted in his backyard.

Seven-year-old Ryan Feeney was born with neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves in his body.

He had a lower-leg amputation when he was two years old and now uses a prosthetic on his right leg.

A 7-year-old from Melrose, Massachusetts, was born with a genetic disorder and got his wish to have a football field in his backyard granted by Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Ryan Feeney was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis when he was four months old. It's a generic disorder that causes tumors to grow on his nerves. "He was born with tibia dysplasia, so we had to amputate his leg at 18 months old," said his dad Shawn Feeney.

Ryan, 7, thought it was a normal day. As he and his brother Jack walked up their driveway in Melrose, they started to realize it wasn't a typical morning. Ryan's wish was fulfilled by Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island; his backyard had transformed into a replica of the Gillette Stadium field. With the completion of Ryan's field, Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island granted its 8,000 wish, and it turns out, the field wasn't the only surprise in store for Ryan and his family.

Tom Brady welcomed nine children to Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, fielding earnest questions from the die-hard fans and trying to give them a day they won't forget, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The children, all wearing bespoke New England Patriots jerseys, watched game film with the NFL MVP and took photos with the team's Lombardi trophies.
