The bus left early – 7 a.m. Sunday morning – but that didn’t stop the State Street School team from Westerly from participating in the third annul Walk for Wishes event at the Warwick Mall. In all, 35 teams and an estimated 300 people spent Sunday morning walking the mall, plus watching group performances for the benefit of Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

There’s a good chance Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask will win the Vezina Trophy, given each year to the NHL’s best goaltender. The flashy Finn led all goalies with seven shutouts and ranked first in save percentage. But it’s something he did off the ice that earned our admiration. This week, Rask made 9-year-old Maddie Santosuosso feel pretty special when he got the little girl a goalie mask identical to the one he wears.

The 19-year-old student at the University of New Hampshire put on a black, backless dress with a sequined top and high-heeled Capezio shoes and salsa danced with Driton “Tony” Dovolani, of ABC-TV’s “Dancing With the Stars” fame, at his studio in Manhattan’s SoHo district.

Dreams will come true for seriously ill children in the Ocean State thanks to $249,000 raised at an evening with Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. The gala featured a silent auction, musical entertainment by Colin Nagle and a lively performance by Wish child Nick and his friend Julia.
